Win2K freezes opening Excel2000 over network

I have a few users who are opening an excel 2000 workbook across the LAN. Sometimes it works, most of the time it freezes the entire PC. No error messages; the user has to cold boot.

I've moved the workbook from an NT4.0 server to a Win2k server, both produce the same result. Win98 machines don't have a problem only my Win2k. Any suggestions. ---------------------------------------
