Win2K does not start with Hercules 3d prophet II MX dual display

System: Compaq presario 5670
Problem: After installing the Hercules 3d prophet II MX dual display video card win 98 starts just fine but not win2k. It seems that it hangs when loading AGP440.sys.
Does anyone have a solution for this or should I just dump my crappy old compaq and get a new computer?

What does it do when it hangs. Blank Screen? Beeps, message form windows?

Might be the motherboard AGP drivers. It is difficult to diagnose if you dont know who made the motherboard. If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

Thanks for wanting to help me.

I am not sure about the maker of the motherboard, but I would guess that it its made by Compaq.

When I start Win2k everything seems alright during the first part of the startup, but after about 70% of the progress bar in the second splash screen (the one with the win2k logo) is just stops and nothing more happens. I am just about to update the bios to see if it might help.

I am grateful for any more help though.
