We've just deployed ePO to about 1000 machines and will be deploying it to 50000+ more in the coming months. Since
the initial deployment, we've had problems with PCs hanging
at shutdown for 10 minutes or more.

All th ePCs are Compaq Evo D500 with VS 4.5.1. Could it be unrelated to the workstation type? It would seem to me that
Virus Scan and the ePO Agent are causing problems.

Any insight would be great.

Change to VSE 7.0. I've seen this problem with Compaq Evo machines, dunno why but other brands weren't as troublesome.

I've seen something similair. Does the Mcafee Framework service give any errors in eventviever?

Perhaps this NAI sollution works: NAI35182.

To modify service dependencies in the registry, follow these steps:

Start Registry Editor (REGEDT32).

Navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\McAfeeFramework

In the right pane of the Registry Editor window, double-click the value 'DependOnService'.

In the Multi-String Editor dialog box, add the following services under Data:

NOTE: Each service should be listed on a separate line.

LanmanWorkstation
NetBIOS

Click 'OK'.

Quit Registry Editor and restart the computer.

Changing to version 7 could not be that easy. In my case theres no way I can upgrade to 7. (not a technical problem though)
