I installed Acronis Echo server (backup software) on our Windows 2008 Remote Access server. The desktop icon is on everyone's desktop and not just the local Admin's desktop. How can I get rid of the shortcuts in everyone's profile besides going into each profile folder manually? Or how can I install Acronis so it only shows up for admins? (Note: this is different than Windows 2003.)

Remove the icon from C:\Users\Public\Desktop. If you want it available for only Administrators on the server, then copy the icon to the specific profiles (C:\Users\<username>\Desktop) where it is needed. If the program made an entry in everyone's Start Menu, then you can remove that from C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs. If you would like for the entry to show up in the admin users Start Menu, then copy the Start Menu folders from the above location to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs.

For future reference if you have any issues with Windows Server 2008, there is a Windows Server 2008 forum here on Tek-Tips.
