Win2000 server and node win2000 prof.

Hi I am using Windows 2000 Server, now with windows 98 client i a m able to logon in server with in 5 to 10 sec. I have 2 machine which are having windows 2000 prof. it takes long time approx. 15 to 20 min to logon.

i am using a router for internet so i have to define dns entry of the isp in primary and secondary dns entry of win2000 prof. computers.

when i enter the ip of my win2000 server in the win2000 prof. dns entry it login with in 5 to 10 seconds, but then i am unable to use internet. and when i enter the isp dns entry it takes logon time of 15 to 20min.

Even tho this is in the NT thread I am assuming you are using AD? (You mention 2000 server). Anyway you have sort of solved this problem yourself. Win2000 machines require reference to dns in order to locate domain controllers for logon. (See the srv records in the zone fiel for your domain). Your isp dns server will obviously not provide these. You should configure your local dns server to refer to the isp dns for internet queries. You can do this in the server properties in dns admin.
