help everyone!!! I am very very frustrated right now.... I have win2000 pro and iis 5 installed. I wrote a ASP page (search engine) which works fine only under certain condition!! First, if I don't get online (modem, dynamic ip), I can just type (mix is my computer name) and it works fine. But when I go online using modem, if I type the same URL it says ODBC error, can't retrieve data because authentication failure. So if I type my real dynamic IP ( a login windown pop out (looks like a default login windows) and I have to type in my windows user name (administrator) and password. Then the search engine works fine.

Can someone please tell me why this happens??? I have IIS setting to public (which means no password required) (by the way, I have NTFS format). Please help!! Thank you very very much!! [sig][/sig]

Check the NTFS file premissions on the file or directory. If they are not set for public access i.e. the IIS_machinename user or the everyone group then you will get the login request. Also check the Web share and access rights through the MMC.
