I have Win2000 w/SP1, installed on a system I built. It continues to freeze for no apparent reason. There are no hardware or I/O conflicts shown in Device Manager. I get no error messages. The only thing I can do is hard boot the computer, because CTL/ALT/DEL does not get me to the Taskmanager. HELP PLEASE!!

Hardware:
Tyan 230 PIII Dual Processor MB
PIII 650 MHz CPUs 370 Flip Chips
256 MB RAM 133
Canopus XPlode Graphics Card w32MB onboard RAM w/2000 drivers
Canopus DVRex Video Editing Capture Card w/2000 drivers
Canopus DVRT sister Editing Card w/2000 drivers
Sound Blaster Live Value Sound Card w/2000 drivers
Adaptec 2940 UW SCSI Card
Medea External 40GB SCSI Drive
Maxtor 20GB IDE Drive 7200 RPM
CDROM 48x IDE
Floppy 1.44

I have changed memory, to no avail. I have built this system with the same configuration at least 5 times. No problem. The only difference is in the Motherboard. The other systems had the Tyan 100 Dual Processor 100FSB, but it's been discontinued.

I would appreciate any Help.

Thanks

Try uninstalling the updates from microsoft except for sp1.
This was the only cure I could come up with on the problems I had. I did redownload them later and made sure my antivirus and firewall were shut off on the second download and havent had the problem.

I'd check your HAL, make sure it picked up on the correct one during installation. The wrong HAL will cause you no end of trouble :)
