Everytime I have to restart either due to a system settings change or new hardware, windows gets past the 'Saving settings' then waits at the 'Windows is shutting down' screen, for about 10-15 minutes, so, to find out what file is doing this, I tried a safe mode start, and the last file is waits on is drvmain.sdb, then after about 10-15 minutes, windows goes into safe mode.

I'm assuming (being that I can't see the files during normal boot up) that it's the same file used for normal startup.

What is the drvmain file?, and why does windows pause on this file for about 10-15 minutes, during startup/shutdown in either safe or normal mode?

I have tried (using the recovery console) to rename the file to drvmain.old, and copy the file from the xp cd, to the windows\AppPatch folder, but to no avail.

sfc /scannow didn't fixit, it scanned for changed or deleted system files, but didn't find any deleted, but replaced changed files with the ones from the cd, then i ddid a restart, and it did the same thing, always pauses on the file drvmain.sdb for about 10-15 minutes, then continues the starting process.

If I can find out how the drvmain.sdb file works with windows, then I can find out which drivers get loaded during start up, and find out which driver or file, is causing the drvmain file to pause.
