On a machine using Win XP Home - the Help fonts are very large and seemingly uncontrollable. The Same machine uses AOL and the E-mails suffer the same font oversizing. Re-setting the fonts has no effect. Would appreciate some help with this.

Try to set smaller fonts in Internet Explorer (View -> Text Size -> Smaller or Smallest).

right-click a blank area of your desktop, properties, Appearance, click the Effects button, and make sure 'Use Large Icons' is not checked.

This is a Font Troubleshooter

Some general things to try.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with Fonts.

Try Safe Mode (Do you have this problem in Safe Mode?).

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

Thanks for the suggestions. The problem is on one of my client's machines and she reports that none of the fixes worked. I hope to attend site and try for myself soon, meanwhile if anyone has any other ideas I'd be grateful. I have a feeling this is AOL related

I would look and see if what the site is reporting is in fact true, applying the suggestions above.

If so:

. Start, Run sfc /Scannow
Have your XP CD handy.
Reboot.
Test again.

If no joy, I would without question do an in-place upgrade reinstallation of XP.
