I have recently recieved my telephone bill which states that a large number of "premium rate" calls have been made from my home telephone. As I am sure that these calls have not been made by telephone, the only answer is that my computer has dialled these number(s) via modem - probably by third-party dialler software, which has dialled up without me knowing.

My telephone bill is unfortunately un-itemised, so I am unable to see what numbers have actually been dialled. I have applied for an itemised bill which I will recieve in a couple of days.

For me to prove/dissprove that my computer has or has not dialled these numbers, I will require a "modem dial log" within Windows XP, from which I can view any numbers other than my ISP number (Freeserve), which have been dialled from October - December of last year (2002).

Can anyone help!?

Control Panel -> Phone & Modems -> Modems Tab
Select your modem, then click Properties.
on Diagnostics tab click View Log. Is that what you're looking for?

Tried that, but I can only view a log of the modem's activity during the previous day. Searched ALL log files on my computer including .txt files, but to no avail.

Just recetnly discovered that the O2 (Air time provider) customer support line, which I called last year, cost 50p a minute! So maybe I don't need a dial log now after all! hehe!

Thanks for the help.
