Hi,

I have a Primax Datapen hand-held scanner that works with Windows 98. I've tried without luck to find a driver upgrade for Windows XP. Does anyone have that driver which they would be willing to share or know where I might find it online? Free, if possible.

Thanks,
Bill

Since Primax has closed it's doors you might just get lucky to find the Win2000 drivers, which should work on XP...

The Primax DataPen was transfered to IRIS. They rename the product to IRISPen. The latest software version is called: IRISPen Executive 3.6 / 3.23 Software Upgrade
source: DriverGuide.com Date: Jan. 2001...

and their software (including drivers) costs...

so you may need to contact them for drivers, if they still have them...

Thanks, Ben. However, when I contacted Iris tech support, they said they don't make that pen and I need to contact its manufacturer. Maybe the tech support person doesn't realize that Iris bought the Primax product.

I suppose its moot anyhow because my pen interfaces via the parallel port and I'm sure more recent versions use a USB connection, so I doubt if their drivers would work for me anyhow.

I have an old laptop that has Windows 98 on it, so I can use that setup as a workaround, although its a hassle.

Anyhow, if anyone else has drivers to get old parallel-port Primax pens to work with more recent OSs, I'd appreciate any help you can give me.
