Though how many ever times I try to boot the system in safe mode, last best configuation and normal booting... it never shows the f drive (CD-RW) whereas it never fails to detect the remaining harware like DVD drive and others...
Can anyone pl. help me?
Are you installing it or has it been on the system?
When you say not shown...where? (My Computer, Device Manager)
The drive will need to be seen in the BIOS before the OS can see it.
Hi
Windows XP is there on my system right from the beginning. And the CD-RW is visible in both My Computer and even in the System Information (Accessories-->System Tools-->System Information). I even tried putting a CD in the drive... it still says that its an "Invalid Drive Specification" (I tried to do so from command prompt).

and download one. Make sure you have a cd in the cdrw drive. Boot the machine using the boot disk. change from the a prompt to the f prompt or whatever your cdrw is. Can you see the files on the cd rom?
If not I would say that the cdrw drive may be bad.
