I work for an ISP and we have run into an issue with some customers starting last week. After installing the latest windows updates, web pages are not able to be displayed. Customers are able to ping to number and name successfully as well as a telnet to port 110 on our mail server. However, a telnet to port 80 on our web server does not display any information. This has been tested through our ISP and also yahoo. There appears to be a connection open on the telnet as the command window changes to a telnet window. When typing "get" and pressing enter to view the source, the cursor moves down to the next line and continues blinking without ever displaying the source code for the site. This works fine through Win 2000 with all the latest updates. On Win XP, KB828035 has been removed from add/remove programs as was suggested in a post found on a MS site and also restored back to Nov. 13th with no avail.
This is not related to the XP pppoe client as the same thing happens with customers with routers. Have tried doing a tcp/ip reset for XP and even reinstalled winsock.
Anyone with any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
