I have a client that tried to install a free software from our Web site. He was unable to do so. He has a new PC with WIN XP.

Our software is compatible with WIN95, WIN98, WIN NT, WIN ME and should also be with WIN XP.

He was advised to install our software in SAFE MODE, but even that does not do. He gets "ERROR CODE 32".

Any hint or idea how he could install the software on his C:\ ?

Thanks,

NT Error 32 usually indicates that you program is trying to access a file that another process has locked open.

Win9x has very weak locking, so your installer might have gotten away with this in the more primitive environment.

I'm not saying this is your problem, but you should consider any files you overwrite that might already be in use. The usual fix is to have the user shut the other program down while installing the new software. The trick may be to identify the locked file and the process holding it open. Perhaps the error message identifies this file?
