Window Explorer creashes on my desktop and laptop machines running Win 2000 Server with a message: he instruction at "xxxxx" referenced memory at "yyyy". The memory could not be "read". The common hardware feature is that both machines have a DVD drive.

I detected this first on my laptop soon after installation VS.NET RC1, which included the installation of IE6. When I have upgraded IE to 6.0 on my desktop, I have the same problem on my desktop. It is really a pain.

Your help will be greately appreciated.

Cheers,

YS from Sydney, Austalia

Have you tried removing IE6?
It can be done safely by going through the Add/remove programs. This will revert it back to your previous version of IE for the most part.

If that does not work, try booting up in safe mode. This will take a while to come up please be patient. If this works, try booting in normal mode and see if the problem fix itself.

If that does not work, I hope you have an emergency repair disk. If you do, it maybe your next step.

Hope that helps.

Firm.
