hello all.

im trying to get into win api but my job doesnt really require me to use it... (been reading win32 api programming by steven roman)

can anyone suggest somewhere/thing (book/website/etc) that will offer up some projects that i can try and do.(my vb is moderate to good, my c/c+ is moderate[ish])

any responses welcomed. I like doing it the hard way! OK!

has some programs with API. I would suggest that you take a look at the simpler API from your book and practice with those and make your way to the more difficult API. Use the API viewer and scroll through that until you find an API you want to try and then use your book and the help file to figure out what it does and how to do it.

Good Luck

thanks will give it a go. I like doing it the hard way! OK!

I loaded the VOLUME.EXE from the MS support site and it gave me some useful pointers and routines in the mixer/winmm.dll arena. I have yet to find any advice on selecting and changing the record source and volume though --- it is that much of a lottery.

If you think laterally and literally you can find solutions. I did it by loading apps and using SendKeys - which became a search on its own - not all apps have hotkeys and none (especially MS) hotkey enough to reach everything by keystrokes. Result is load and use and unload several apps in bizzare ways.

It's anarchy out there PAL.
