WIN 98SE Search Engine problems

Hi List,

I have a broad band connection shared via a netgear router, running 2 w/s Win98se and 1 running XP Pro - all have internet and networked - can see each other, all are virus protected and have latest updates from MS.

1 98SE workstation will not browse to

http://www.google.co.uk

or when using yahoo, won't do any searches - keeps saying page not found -

Any ideas i am stumped.

I know you're saying you've got virus protection in place, but you should have a look at this:

http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.qhosts.html

...symptoms of this are very similar to what you-re experiencing.

It was a virus.

It had modified the hosts file - to default page thats does not exists
