almost every other time i start up win98se it goes into safe mode.

it says i have a display problem. i've re-installed the display drivers each time and it fixes the problem. but the next day it goes back to safe mode and i have to re-install the drivers all over again.

my mobo is a BRAND NEW MSI 6738 with onboard Savage8 video

could there be some other program that maybe corrupting the display drivers? the only app that loads during startup is AVG antivirus.

btw. i've got a completely identical other system and that one works perfect all the time.

how can i fix this problem?

would updating the bios solve it?

is there any way to totally uninstall a display driver from win98 before re-installing?

could the DDR ram module be the cause?

Sounds like a hardware issue. Have you got a graphics card you could try (turn off onboard) - just to see if that's the problem? (I suspect not - but could be anything else - I'd look at RAM next).

You can find & delete all the driver files (should be detailed in its .inf file) so you're sure its not a corrupt driver file.
