One client on a network has lost the internet...
the LAN uses a 3Com Lan modem to access the internet all the other stations can use it but one a old gateway 200mhz
with win98se will open ie and the statas bar changes to an ip address but it just stays there and there you have it.
I have tryied removing the entire network neighborhood and reinstalling it with no luck...
any ideas other than a re-install of 98....?¿

(Win2k server based network)

Yes, i agree w/Tez. check the proxy settings. sounds like this computer is set to use a specific proxy sever. uncheck it and let it automatically detect proxy settings.
