Win 98se and an AMD500meg. processor

Hi: I have an AMD500meg. processor in my home-built machine-Win98se won't even think about loading with this processor at full speed{Win95with patch from AMD runs just fine}I have to drop the processor speed from 100mHz to 83mHz!!! does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix so I can utilitize my full 100mHz??? It doesn't seem to be a BIOS problem. THANKS MUCH!!

For 100 MHz Bus speed set it at 4.5 x 100

I have set up mulitple systems with the 450 MHz CPU with NO problems,,,,,,, however, I have heard from other system builders that they have REAL problems with the 500 MHz & 550 MHz chips.
So, try the 450 setting.

* Last: It maybe that your running the VIA CHIPSET (ARRGGGH)
and that is your problem.
The ALI chipset (on Asus mainboards) always worked great (up to the 450 & 500 settings)
