I use windows 98 first edition on celeron 1 gh,128 RAM
the strange thing is that i don't get that "Its now safe to turn off your computer" .Computer activity stops after displaying "Windows is shutting down" .What could be the problem?
And you consider this a problem?! I usually wrestle with the clients I support to GET RID of the "It's now safe..." screen.
I'm usually able to get rid of this screen by disabled PM options in the PC BIOS, so perhaps you need to make sure these are enabled on your deck.
Long answer - this is a common problem on many different computers running many different software combinations with many different hardware combinations and almost any little detail could cause the computer not to reach the shutdown screen.
(not msn) and go to the knowledge base section, choose Windows 98, an type in "problems shutting down". this is a failry common problem and i think there are a few fixes or patches out there.
I have found when I have machines that do this I kick them in safe mode, run disk cleanup, scan disk and then defrag and they seem to be good for another week or more ( at least most of the 50 clients)
