Win 98 Lost Startup Password

I just purchased a 2-year old HP Pavillon Notebook from a local computer surplus store and have a major problem.

when I boot the machine up the first thing it asks me for is a password and this not being my computer I dont have the password. It is running win 98 with an AMD K6

I can't do a thing...........
