I have a work PC with Win98 installed. It now freezes everytime i boot up. Usually after 10-20 seconds. I have to hold in the powere button to restart. I boot up in safe mode and i don't freeze up. I can't get tp the internet in safe mode to go to websites such as or any other sites. I have tried copying some software downloaded from another computer. Such as spybot, adaware, hijackthis and regclean. I have run all of these in safe mode on the freezing PC. They cleaned and fixed stuff, but the freezing has not stopped. I don't know if the Netvista harddrive is the problem or I have a worm. I know trendmicro can find trojan horses, but i can't run it. Any suggestions?

Sounds more like a virus than spyware. I'd download McAfee's Stinger from and try that.

Personally I prefer Sysclean from trend Micro together with the latest pattern file - this is a stand alone package like stinger but i have found it to be much more effective. Does any antivirus software not work in safe mode or is there none installed on the pc?
