Because of shutdown problems with Win 98,I reformatted my hard drive and after the new installation, when I check the "always connect" from IE 5.0 icon on the desktop,I have to than click "connect" to get to my DSL ISP. IE won't remember to "always connect." Prior to this fiasco,if I just double clicked the IE icon, i connected to my ISP and my home page came up.

This mostly happens because of a corrupted pwl file. Go to the c:\Windows subdirectory in Explorer and delete all pwl files. You will have to enter all your passwords again as they come up, so make sure you have a note of them someplace (secure).

If that doesn't work, post back here.
