I recently insatll Ages of Empires 2 onto my coomputer- Win95- after it prompted to restart the computer--
after recicved a "blue screen of death" - a fatal exception error 06 has occured at 0137:BFF8BA7D---

I try to restart in safe mode but that doesn't even work--
I have a feeling i will have to probably reinstall Windows but I want to be able to go into it & get my files off. Everything is still in the computer [c drive] & i can acess it thru the command prompt. I think it has something to do with the video display.

any advice????

Thanks,

I doubt whether it is due to your display, 'cause safe mode does not load display drivers.
What happens when you try safe mode?
What is your setup?
06 is a processor related error, so I need to know what hardware you are using. I suspect you may have exceeded the minimum processor requirements. [sig]
Clive
clive@digitalsky.co.za

[/sig]

You may be able to recover by using a backup of the registry.

You need to boot your system to a Dos prompt and go to the Windows directory.

Type attrib -h -r -s system.dat
Rename this file to something else.
Type attrib -h -r -s system.da0 (that's a zero)
rename this file to system.dat
Type attrib +h +r +s system.dat

Reboot and see if you get into Windows. If the problem still occurs you may want to try renaming the system.ini file and using the system.cb file (copy it to system.ini).

as above but try user.da0

attrib user.dat -r -a -s -h
attrib user.da0 -r -a -s -h

copy user.dat user.rob

copy user.da0 user.dat

overwrite.
