Hi!

I am a newbie here. I have a little problem: my floppy drive doesn't work but it boots off of it. It only has a floppie drive and not a floppy drive. Please try to help me if you can. It is running Windows 95. I know it is an old computer, but I need this for my child because I'm low on ca$h.

It is an old Gateway 2000 Colorbook squared. I was trying to get drivers for my Linksys PCMPC100 Ethernet Cord (dongol connection) so that I could go online with it. I tried a brand new disk and an old disk and they both didn't work. Then, when I put in my Windows 95 Japenese Edition (I don't want to use this, I want the English Edition) into the drive and booted it up. This worked. I don't know what this means because I'm not that into computers, so I would like to know what this means. My last thing to try is to use dial-up to connect and download the drivers, but I already have Comcast High speed internet, and it would take a while to download it.

Thanks!

Are you saying that the floppy drive works ok in DOS, but it does not work in Windows?

And what is the meaning of "It only has a floppie drive and not a floppy drive."?

Hi, ComputerFreak

Yes, it is old (1993?) and IIRC they were all 486s with not much RAM, and only had 3½" floppy disk drive, I don't think CD-ROMs were standard.

It is? Trying to install WinJ over Win Western doesn't sound a good idea to me.
