Win 7 VPN

I'm trying to determine if it's possible to set the NIC binding order for Windows VPN connections, or is it tops by default. I ask, because it appears that instead of DNS requests going to the remote VPN site DNS server, they are going to the public ISP DNS.

Does the VPN fall under 'Remote Access Connections' under the binding order list. All I see are Local Area, Wireless and Remote Access Connections. I have checked when connected to VPN as well as when not connected.
