I thought I had my Windows-7 power settings correct, and they seem to be, except when the screen goes into its timeout (the computer HD is NOT going to sleep. After the screen goes dark, and I hit a key on the keyboard to wake it up, the screen & what i was last doing appears again. And even tho the mouse moves around, nothing works on the programs for at least a few minutes. If I drop the mouse to my taskbar, which I have set to hide, it won't bring up the taskbar either. the windows key does not bring up the program list. It takes a few minutes for the rest of the computer to "wake up." I have the computer set to fall asleep after 4 hours.

Thanks in advance...

Have you tried testing with another user to see if it is a machine or user profile problem?

Have a look at the Powercfg command as an alternate way of setting (or checking) your power options.

Is there any Bios update available for your machine?
