i have win 2k advanced server runinng as a pdc in a single domain. (i upgraded from nt4 sp6a which was previously the PDC)

it seems to be running fine EXCEPT for some small issues, two of which are:

a) in the even viewer i'm getting an inordinate number of message for the time service. it keeps telling me it can't find the domanin controller to sync the time etc..IT is the domain controller..

b) when i try and shut it down it goes almost all the way thru the process telling me it's saving my settings blah blah, then the screen goes black and i get a blinking underscore in the upper left hand corner.

any suggestions on these would be a great help. Thanks.

I have w2k server running and get the same error with the time service. I think the service has not been set on the server to sync with any other one so it thow's an error. I think if you get on the web the address in britain to sync to and find where to set it in the service it should fix that problem.

The shutdown prob. is the cursor showing is it loading another vga driver in to mem to say it's safe to turn off now. The system shuts down and saves the drivers down then loads a generic driver to show the last graphical screen, it seems as if its hanging tring to load that driver. Try and reboot and see how long it takes, if it takes ages then shutdown and leave it for a while... After all it is Microsoft software at the end....

I ran into the time sync problem also. Then I read somewhere to type a command at a command prompt and the problem went away. I know that isn't much help. I may have gotten the tip from Tech Net, I just don't recall. And I don't recall the command. Search Tech Net. If you find it, let me know so I can make a note of it this time.
