Win 2k server re-boot and BSOD

Hi All, I have a Compaq ML320 running Windows Server 2000. I'm using it for a test web sever and also running VMWare Server 2.0.

The server has started rebooting randomly and I've received the "Blue Screen of Death"a couple of times this week. Not sure if it's hardware or software. What reccomended action should I take to start troubleshooting this. What can I do to differentiate between hardware and software. I did not write down what the BSOD message said but, will next time I see it.
