Hi guys

I have an IBM thinkpad setup with win 2000 pro sp3 and proxy 2.0 client. It works over the LAN fine with our 10mbit internet, but when the user is offsite and dialing in, he cannot browse the internet.

It connects, his account is verified, logs on fine (at 48kbs) you can ping net addresses and returns IP address (ie. DNS name resolution), even type in an address in IE6 and it will say "connecting to XX.XX.XX.XX (ip address)- but then it times out (after ages!!!)

All settings are fine (as per ISP), and I cannot see anywhere that has any incorrect settings.

Has anyone got any ideas on this one?

Cheers,

Brett

When your computer is accessing the network remote, is the IP address asigned to it part of the registerd internal addresses (registered in the MS Proxy 2 configuration)?

Hi

No, from what you say you mean when accessing the network from the modem - this does not happen, it is purely dialing up to his own ISP to browse the internet, nothing else.

We do not have dial in to our network system (yet!)
Otherwise, if you mean auto assigned IP from the ISP, yes it does - as well as Auto assign DNS etc.

This is quite annoying!! (for him and me!)

regards,

Brett
