Ok, I have an interesting problem. I have a Windows 2000 Professional OS running on a Compaq Armada M700 laptop which has an internal Intel Pro NIC.

I have the latest novell client with the 4.8.1 patch installed. After login, all network drives appear and are accessible, after about 15 minutes, the drive mapping icons are still showing up, but access to the drive mappings themselves are gone.

I have patched up my WIN2k, and have checked all the settings pertaining to the Novell Client and client enhancements for WIN2k with client 4.8.1

I have also searched the TID's on the Novell website, to no avail.

Any help or info would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds like you're connection is dropping off. Are you running the latest version of the network drivers? Compaq's website says the latest are v3.01A

Below is the link. There is also a link for another upgrade you may wish to try: -----------------------------------------------------

I have seen similar issues on New Installs. Some configurations have a "power saver" on the NIC.

Check the network settings for the adapter. Just above the protocalls and client settings is a configure button for the adapter itself. See if their is a power saver feature that is turned on.

On the server check the server parameters. The disk cache buffers, in particular. I have had a number of sites with default settings and they are to limiting access.

Thanks everyone. Seems I had all of the above problems plus a bad hard drive. Problem is now resolved since I was give a replacement laptop with the above mentioned settings.

Thanks again...
