Earlier in the day there was a power outtage that took the win2k server down. When booted back up (no UPS), the system has reported a fatal error: 0000021a (i think). Tried to repair using wink2 CD. Did not work. Now one of the problems that is says is happening is the AUTOCHECK is not found. Can this problem be solved by just re-installing the win2k cd or is there somethiing else that can be done to save the data on the hard drive? Need this solved like a hog needs slop.
Appreciate any help.

Can you boot to safe mode? if not, at what point is this error occuring?

This point is occurring at an atttempt to boot normally. In safe mode it does not allow me to do anything. I need to create a directory that will allow me to get into the system and correct the STOP 0xC000021A message. I need to install a new version of NT and then go to the old directory, and reset the file and directory permissions. I don't know how I create the new directory without erasing my old data. Can you assist in this process? Once up and running then delete the newly create directory...in other words I need to install a temporary directory.

I would try a couple of things before I reinstalled.

First, Try running install cd and choosing the recovery console option. Then from the recovery console, replace the autochk.exe file with the one from the cd (or better yet, replace it with a copy off the latest service pack(if you need help with that let me know))

When you say you can't do anything in safe mode, does this mean it locks up or your apps dont run, or you dont get a desktop, etc? jamk555
