Hi gays !
I have Windows 2000 Server and when I try to Map Network drive (offline) -> I get error: "The Network location cannot be reached !" in fact it is done clear and without errors when I connected to Internet !
Does somebody can help me!?
Thanks .....

It's a DNS issue.

Check to see what the DNS settings are for the machine you are mapping from. If your W2k server has the DNS service on it, use that IP as it's primary DNS server and try again.

Thanks Rickgerdes !

You know ,it shame to ask, but how to check is there DNS service on it on not ?

\\ip_address\share
test your tcp/ip connection

\\computername.domain.com\share
test your DNS resolution

\\computernetbiosname\share
test your netbios/wins resolution

Right-click My Computer-> Manage

Services on the left hand menu.

DNS will show up if installed.

The Workstation can't see the Server, had the exact same problem on Tuesday. Good Luck.

Are you in a network? Do you get your IP information from a server? You can check this by going to the command prompt and typing ipconfig /all. Then see if there are lines that say something similar to:

Lease Obtained. . . . . . : Wednesday, May 07, 2003 2:25:31
Lease Expires . . . . . . : Sunday, May 25, 2003 2:25:31 PM

If you are obtaining an IP, I have ran into the problem that depending on the patches that you may have, Windows 2000 sometimes have a glitch where the ip information do not get renewed on time. So try to run these commands from the command prompt when you get the problem.

ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /registerdns

Well , Friends ! I'll explain myself : I write little program in VB which at the end should access all available
dravers (local & network).Becouse I have W. 2000 Server I wish to Map one of my local dravers to become Network Drive ( I saw one my frend did it in same conditions like me : not connected to any network at all)

Now about DNS Server ... and yes I have installed DNS Server
on my comp.

Thanks again !
