Hello,

Probably a very simple sollution exist for my problem but I tried everything.

i have two computers with windows 2000 pro connected to each other through a hub whil on of the computers is connected to the internet with a cable modem.

At this moment both have internet access so isc works.
The problem is that they don't see each other so I can't copy files from each other.

I have tried logging in as an administrator and normal user but they just don't see each other while internet works fine. i also shared the drives with no effect.

HELP!

Thanks

Recall seeing this solution in previous posts here. Enable the 'Guest' user account.

neufarth is excatly correct. Just had same issue on personal network. User must exist on each box or use Guest account.

Good Luck ~

Hmmm, ok I am one step further now. One computer sees the other one but when I want to explore it I can't access it.

I enabled the guest accounts on both sites.

I forgot to tell you that I am logged in as administrator on both computers but on one computer (the one that sees the other) I have made two extra users but again I am logged in as administrator on both systems so is that a problem ?

THANKS!

Yes, the default administrator share and a new one...

i also granted the other computer. the other computer can't find the other one when he searches the local network..

Still no luck here :-(

What protocols are installed? If only TCP/IP, try installing netbeui to see if the computers can see each other.

I was unable to get a Win98 workstation and a Win2K workstation to see each other with only TCP/IP, so I'm using netbeui for the system-to-system and TCP/IP so each workstation can use my cable modem. All are interconnected via a hub/switch.

Well, installing netbui did the trick ;-)

Thank you neufarth and thank you all for your response.

I recall that it worked for me once without netbui but it is still windows we are talking about is it ;-)

Thanks and l8r
