I just loaded Win 2k and cannot get it to turn off the system when I shutdown. I just get a screen that tells me It is now saft to turn off my computer.

My system did shutdown and turn off in the previous O/S.

Is this feature even available in W2K?

Thanks for the help.

As long as the BIOS supports it. Check registry setting HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Look for the string "PowerdownAfterShutdown" and see if it is set to 1. joegz

Yes, this feature is supported in W2K. The question is, does your BIOS support it via ACPI? Make sure you are running the latest BIOS from the computer / Bios vendor.

If your previous OS was NT 4, then this worked through APM, a registry change, and probably an OEM version of the HAL.DLL file.
