Win 2000 creates large spool files

We are printing to a PCL printer on a network via std TCPIP port, it does not matter what programme we print from on this PC but all jobs when spooled increase in size for example 8 meg file is turned into a 200meg + job in the spooler this also take a long time to print, we have installed the driver several time with no success. If we print the job from another PC it prints fine.
Any help would be appreciated
