[W2K] Click desktop shortcuts.....get msn.com
Hi,

This just started this morning. If I click on any of my desktop shortcuts to applications (actually if I do it in the start menu it happens as well). Windows opens internet explorer and attempts to go to »msn.com c:\whatever folder\whatever exe.

I cant figure out why this is happening. Does anyone have a clue?

Is there anyway to restore my shortcuts?

I try to create new shortcuts and it opens a window pointing to » c:\rundll32.exe

any help would be appreciated.

Try:

Start, Run, cmd
regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

Reboot and test again.

thanks for the reply bcast.

A little more info here. The employee who is having the problem ran search and destroy adware remover over the weekend. This is when the problem starts. Tried to open the progam to do an undo but keep getting the msn.com stuff.

I tried to get to the command prompt (cmd) but it keeps opening internet explorer. Cannot get to any exe on the system.

Even tried to do a system restore, cant get to it.

Any other suggestions?

Im really stuck here.
