We're looking at a WIMAX solution as our primary circuit. I like it for it's scalibilty if not pricepoint . In some informal testing from another wimax site , overall the latency , etc looks great !

What things should I be looking for, etc when considering going with a wimax provider ? Is there any issue with rain fade, weather and wimax solutions ? On the above ~wimax test site~ it's not our network, but if it was , I would have started some logs just to see overall how speed looked over the course of a couple of days.

Love to hear your opinions on Wimax these days

i've been looking at wimax as a connection between a couple of bldgs about 12 miles apart and as a backup connection to my t1's. i've talked to several vendors and they all say the same thing:

no appreciable rain, tree branch or snow fade if properly oriented and sited antennaes.

a t1 provides '5 9's of reliability' (99.999%), wimax provides about '3 9's of reliability'(99.9%).

since i'm looking at using unregulated spectrum between sites i will have to be aware that other people can add their own wimax equipment and perhaps cause interference which i will have to compensate for.
