I am looking at upgrading my NEC 2000 IPS phone system to SIP and found a card for sale, advertised as:

NEC NEAX 2000 IPS PN-32IPLA-A & PZ-M632 M-481416 M-481473 IP Pad Interface Card

My system is the European system (with the Phillips software). When I connect through MatWorx it gives me: SC-3551 M1-0001.04 M-SITE in the top bar. I think I have R14 as the software release but can't remember how to check this.

My question is, would this card work with my system? I want to have 32 SIP channels.

Thanks,
Simon

The 32 IPLA-A card you have is a PAD card used to convert IP to TDM and TDM to IP. It is not a SIP trunk card. M1 is R12. P = R14.
There is a special IP SIP trunk card available. I do not know the exact part number or designation since so few were actually sold and used. It is similar to the 16 IPT card which is an IP trunk card. The SIP trunk card is the same hardware with different firmware burned into it.

Ok thank you so much, that makes sense. One of my friends said the following:

PN-8IPTA (SIP)for 8 ports. Add a PZ-24IPLA daughter board to bring it to 32

So if I understand correctly, the PN-32IPLA-A card would allow me to have actual NEC SIP phones, for example an NEC IP DT730 24-button phone? Whereas the IPTA card mentioned would be for the actual SIP trunk connections?

Also from what I understand, on the NEC 2000 IPS I can have a maximum of 64 IP phones/Trunks. So in this case I could have 32 IP phones and 32 SIP trunks provided I have the correct licences for this?

Thanks a lot,
Simon

not sure thats correct , I dont think sip was supported on ips , sv8300 = sip support

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

SIP was supported in the IPS, with special firmware circuit cards. It was not widely sold or used.
