I am about to program my pix 501 to allow vpn to our private network. I plan on plugging the pix directly into the switch where all of the networked pc's are located. The pc's addresses are 192.168.1.X. Of course I will have to re-enter everyone's default gateway to the inside address of the pix. Please review the following code to see if it would work. Thanks in advance.

Hey bud,

In my opinion the config looks good, but, from what I have learned on this forum and what worked for my vpn set-up is that your vpn local pool must not overlap with your internal ip pool..change it to something else like 10.1.1.1-10.1.1.x. You may want the pro's on the forum to verify this but I believe this is correct. Also, you may want to look into using ipsec instead of pptp as your clients will not be able to surf the internet while connected via pptp. Ipsec uses split tunnel which allows vpn conenctivity and internet capability as well. Only thing is you will have to install the cisco vpn client. Anyways, good luck and I hope I helped a little bit.

HI.

I agree with all MarionWare wrote.
I'm not sure what exactly is the situation before and after the change:
Is the pix currently your firewall and you're going to add VPN access, or do you have another firewall and going to add a new pix device to act as a VPN server?
Where does the current default gateway of workstations point to?

Bye
