The backup fails because it says the tape in not in the scratch set. But the tape is in the set. It gives a list of tapes to use from the scratch set or a blank one. But it does not list the tape from the scratch set that is in the device. Any ideas anyone.

If the tape information is deleted from the database before its cycle comes then itr does not belong to the scratch set you created therefore does not start back-up. The most practical solution is to delete the scratch set therefore all tapes in same scratch set if you only have one set.

Otherwise you need to check if each tape is in correct set and add it to appropriate set if not.

I have had a similar problem and have found little or no information on getting the media pool set up. I back up a NetWare 5 server with ArcServe 6.6 and if the backup is down for a few days I can't seem to get the tape rotation back in order. We started with fresh tapes and serial numbers but there are old numbers still showing in the media pool which the backup is still asking for. Is there a way to remove those? or what would be the correct way to get back on track?
