Jerry,

I now have a serious problem with my motherboard. For a while it posted on and off and now it will not post at all so I have a dead motherboard. I tried the following :

1. I cleared the cmos as per chapter 2- nothing happens when I try and boot up.

2. I changed the power supply and put in a 500 watt power supply.-nothing changed, it didn't boot up t all.

3. Since I have a couple of hard drives one Windows and the other Linux, neither drives posted at all.

4. I tried a different Graphics card- nothing different happened it didn't boot at all.

5. I am missing JP7 so I don't have any options.This setting is for a alternate booting. I have a Chaintech board KT7.

6. I even tried booting up without the hard drive, nothing happened.
7.I removed every board with the exception of the graphics card and nothing happened

As you can see, I am down to a bad cpu or the motherboard. I don't hav e a extra cpu to try so I hope you might have a few tricks for me to try and see if I can get the motherboard working again.

Thanks and I look forward to your help in reviving this motherboard.

Be well.

Touch the CMOS chip when you power on. Be careful, because it may be SUPER hot. If it is, this could be an indication of a fried CMOS chip, in which case the mobo will need to be replaced.
