Does network address translation forward broadcasts?

What exactly do you need to "broadcast" through NAT???

The answer of your question depends of what equipment or software do you use for NATting. Nat issetf does not forward broadcast. Nat uses outgoing packet source ip, source and destination ports to know how to where incoming packet must be translated.

If an incoming packet is received without corresponding with any outgoing previously sent packet (like broadcast packets), it can't be translated.

That's the theory, in practice, mabe some equipments forwards broadcast packets to the entire local network.

NAT does not, but most routers hosting NAT will.

Otherwise DHCP and Netbios requests, to name two, would not function.
