Will library setting changes translate to the timeline

Hey out there;

I'm optimizing my sound files in the library. As I change them, will those changes be automatically updated on the timeline, or must a drag out a new version of the sound from the library to the timeline and replace the old?

They should be reflected without having to actually change the sounds on the timeline.
