As I understand, the current 642-521 CSPFA paper is based on PIX Firewall version 6.3. I talked to a trainer that day and the official Cisco Student Guide they used is still at version 3.2 (as Cicso also recommend training course in their website - "....Candidates can prepare for this exam by taking the CSPFA v3.2 course..." ).

But, question is, now PIX Firewall version 7.0 is officailly released along with the new ASDM5.0 (to replace PDM). This software are made available online to download and relevant technical documentation are all in place. Will there a change in CSPFA exam topics (as current one is based on v6.3) ? If there is any (based on Cisco trend of updating exam paper), when will Cisco usually update the poll of questions ?

Give them time and they will... Probably not for at least 6 months though.

I think so. I will be sitting for this paper soon, so i am afraid this. Personally, i think they will update the official student guides (current version 3.2) first before it'll reflect on the exam. :)

Hold on.. the problem for Cisco is that 7.0 code only runs on the 515 and up. The 501, 506 and 506E can only run 6.3 code. And the two codes are so different you can not be certified on 6.3 and expect to know how to configure 7 and the same works the other way.

So either they need to bring up 7 on the 501/506, drop the 501/506 or split the cert into two families of code.
