Hi Me again.I have a Epox 8RDA3+ ver. 3.x motherboard,With a Athlon 3200+,1gig ram and a 8x 4x AGP slot,manual say's 1.5v AGP.??

I want to know if a ATI All in wonder X800 XT AGP video card will work in this motherboard, and run at 8x.This is very confuseing if you look at the spec's from ATI on this card. The voltage part???and then look at the motherboard spec's on the AGP slot 1.5v 4x/8x and can set up to 1.8v.

I just want to know if I buy this video card,it will run at 8x on this board.Thankyou if you can help.

Do you think this card would be really nice on a Athlon 3200+ w/1gig ocz gold pc3200 400mhz.on a Nforce 2 motherboard,Ultra 400.
The video card looks awesome, hope it's ok with a Athlon 3200+ cpu.I'm using a 9600xt 128meg.video card now and it's nice..Thought it would look even better with a all in wonder x800 xt 256meg video card.............Thanks.

lordgalla,

It really depends on what you are running as aplications.
The 9600 is a decent card for most uses unless you are running the most recent games. This quote from ATI should say it all as the 9800 is a couple of steps above the 9600.
ATI said:
Radeon® X800 Graphics Technology delivers frame rates that surpass all previous graphics processors and up to two times the performance of the acclaimed Radeon® 9800 PRO.
These high end cards off load alot of duties from the CPU and perform them on the GPU and that helps making the 3200+ power more available for other things.

So If you had my motherboard setup, and the Athlon 3200+cpu would you buy the All-in-wonder X800 XT 256meg video card.Your saying it would definitely be worth it. Right

I run a lot of new games, and they all seem to run fine now.I just wanted to up the graphics a little, from the 9600xt to the X800 XT..so I could turn up settings in the games.and maybe take a little load off of the cpu, like you said.I can't afford a motherboard, cpu, and a video card...So I was wondering what to do first, and man this video card looked nice.

lordgalla,

Many questions, But yes, if you are a gamer a large improvement can be obtained through a higher peformance video card.

You will tend to see more bang for the amount expended in the video card upgrade than in an equivalent expenditure for a CPU upgrade.

As you currently have a competent cpu your investment in a video card is prudent. As you can also transfer this to a higher performance CPU/mobo at a later date so long as it is not too much later. You know how fast things are progressing.

Not sure wether you would really want to restrict yourself to an AGP based motherboard next time you upgrade.
As you have a high end K7 series platform now, you are unlikely to stick with an AGP based mainboard for your next big upgrade as these wouldn't perform significantly higher or represent a good basis for future upgrades.

My sentiments, exactly paparazi, and why I cautioned "not too much later". Too bad that one cannot retrofit PCI-E to an old mobo somehow.

Let me put it another way:

lordgalla you say: "I'm using a 9600xt 128meg.video card now and it's nice, also: I run a lot of new games, and they all seem to run fine now"

You seem to be the type of user that is unlikely to be happy settling for old technology on your next motherboard upgrade so why would you want to be sadled with a £200/$380
AGP graphics card? when you are reasonably happy with the one you currently have.

Save the money and put it towards a complete PCIe system when you can afford it.

Under normal circumstances I would agree with buying the graphics card first but as it carn't be transfered to your new system (if you go with the latest technology) my opinion would be motherboard and processor first, buy a cheap PCIe card just to tide you over until you can afford the X800XT in PCIe form.

Ask yourself a question, why are there great deals on X800XT's, 6800GT's etc? it's because everybody wants to offload there old technology.

Your present Nforce2 motherboard will work with an X800XT but the card will be bottle necked some what by your older components, true, it would offer better performance and enable higher settings but look at the bigger picture.
