I need some help due to being a begineer in this, i have a friend whom wants me to set up a access point for customers to his coffee shop to use for the internet. I have ideas about getting a hub and a wirless TX.

Is there a maximum amount of people that can share and wirless connection ?

What sort of equipment is needed ?

Is it easy due to my first venture in this field.

Thanks

Richard

Quite frankly, this starts as a medium in difficulty, and can grow to doable but more complicated. Does your friend want to charge for access? Does he want to restrict what sites are viewed? (Imagine little Suzy and her mother having a nice cup of tea, while their table neighbor viewed porno sites?)

Does you friend have an existing local machine or LAN used to manage his business? Do you really want to just hang an access point on your existing setup and allow any high school hacker to destroy your accounting records while sipping a latte?

Google: "wireless hotspot management"

Ouch,

I think i will have to find out a lot more, basically he just said he wanted anybody in his shop to have access.

So i need to ask:

Who has access

Access restrictions / sites

Is a charge going to be applicable or is a cup of coffee about a tenner.

Is there anymore very important queations ?

I supposed his own pc could have a firewall and the access point staright on to the net.

Thanks for the response

Richard
