Wierd problem with IE

I recently started having a very strange problem with Internet Explorer. Any time that a second window is suppossed to open, when I click on a link, the browser window will open but no page will load. All I get is the top tool bars. This also happens if there is a hyperlink in an e-mail. The browser will open but no page will load. Has anyone else heard of this problem. It is very frustrating. I am running Win 98SE and IE6.

Thanks for the link. This is exactly what is going on but I tried doing the things mentioned and am still having the same problem. Any other suggestions?

I found another thread that has over 300 posts to it from people who have had this same problem. Several things were tried. This is what finally worked for me.

Here's the answer - believe it or not - it's Microsoft again!!

i just had the same problem, and i found the solution.
u have to download and run this executable

http://download.microsoft.com/download/msninvestor/Patch/1.0/WIN98/EN-US/mcrepair.EXE
