Wierd Printing Error

Heres the deal, I have been having a b***h of a time trying to fix this printer. This is our setup:

We have a few printers around the company, some on Jet Direct, servers some not. All work fine except one, a HP DeskJet 1100 on a JD server. The JD server that the HP is attached to has cannon BJ attached to it, which works fine.

Heres what's Happening:
Some users on NT can't print in word to the HP LaserJet. They can print to it in other programs just not in word, and they can print to other printers in word. Word will hang when you Go File-Print- then select the printer in the drop down menu, it will freeze word, right away. Also if you set the printer as default and try to start word, word won't start, No errors, just hangs. Now some users on NT can print to the LaserJet in word. No users in 98/95 have had any problems. Sometimes when I try to print the Spooler service crashes on the server.

Heres what I've done:
I thought it was the printer it self so I removed/re-installed Print Drivers, and changed printer with Identical HP LaserJet 1100. Then I thought maybe it was a permissions issue so I tried it as Admin, still no luck. I thought the drivers on the server might be bad, so I re-installed the drivers on the server. I also tried installing all the service packs(for Word/office and NT) still no luck.

Has this happened to anyone else? Please Help!

The problems sounds more like a "network" problem and not a printer or server problem. I would look at the JetDirect first (try swapping with another), then the cable and the hub connection.

Set the clients to print directly to the printer instead of spooling the job.

Sometimes if Word spools a job on the client and sends it to the printer which spools it you can take out the spooler service.
